The 8th Wonder of the World- Revisited

A couple of months ago, I heard Yasemin waking from her nap. She wasn't crying, she was talking to herself. I figured I could finish the cleaning I was doing since she was ok. I heard her giggling and babbling to herself while I finished my work. After about 10 minutes I went in to get her. The curtains were closed so it was quite dark but I could see a dark stain around her. Oh lord, I guess she threw up. I opened the curtains and seriously I could hear that scary violin music in my head, you know where the villain/psychopath starts stabbing the victim.

It was....POO.

My precious angel had opened her diaper and was happily finger painting with her poo. It was on the blankets, the crib walls, all around her face and hair, in ever corner of her body. She had even managed to get the crib sheet up and it was on the orthopedic (cloth covered) mattress. I (who is normally the go to gal for emergencies due to my clear thinking) could not think of what to do first. I ran into the bathroom and started a bath, ran back to her and stripped her poo covered body down, finally running back to plunk her into the tub. She got two baths and a shower before I felt she was sanitized enough. I dressed her before plopping her into her excersaucer. It took me well over an hour to clean and sanitize her bed.

I then began to wonder if it was healthy that she had possibly eaten her own poo. I called my husband crying and told him to call her doc. Turns out it is perfectly ok for a baby to eat her own poo. The doc said that since her food is closely monitored, she should be fine. (I learn something new every day....) Needless to say, she always wear underwear on top of her diaper now when she lays down.

Stress Anyone?

I always said that I would keep up a blog if I got one...and of course it has fallen by the wayside. It has been such a busy few months. We have had my husband's mom staying with us during the peak of her bipolar sickness. It has taken it's toll on all of us. My husband has had a revisitation of his panic attacks, Yasemin has totally screwed up her sleeping schedule, and I have had my own panic attacks as well as nervous stomach. I hope the rest of the year is more calm for all of us. My mother-in-law seems more calm and the combination of medicines seems to be working. I will be adding some blogs over the next few days to catch up.....
